How to Make a Living Will in Kansas
In the event that you can become medically incapacitated, you may want to be prepared by drawing up a living will. A living will is a written statement of how you want or do not want to be medically treated in the event that you cannot make your wishes known anymore. A living will can help if your medical proxy does not know what your wishes are. Living will laws vary by state.

Hire a lawyer. Find a lawyer in Kansas who specializes in living wills.
2Educate yourself on what types of procedures are used on seriously ill patients. You will need to decide whether you want medical personnel to exert efforts to prolong your life or if you don't want them to try to resuscitate you at all. You will also need to choose whether you would want to be in life support if you become unconscious and remain so for duration of your life.
3Inform your lawyer of your what your preferences are regarding your living will. Ask him to draw up legal documents that correspond to your wishes. Make sure the living will is signed, witnessed, and notarized properly according to Kansas law.
4Give copies of the living will to your relatives and the people close to you who will see to it that the living will is fulfilled. You can give a copy of your living will to your doctor. Keep the original copy of the will in a safe place.
5If you do not wish to use an individualized or custom living will, you can fill out a standard living will. The standard living will form for Kansas can be found on the website of the Kansas Bar Association.
