Notary Publics are responsible for witnessing the signatures on important documents, such as legal papers or loan contracts. In the state of Arizona, these individuals work in a variety of settings, including financial institutions and mobile notary companies. But before becoming a notary, the state of Arizona requires that you meet a few requirements.
Instructions
- 1
Make sure you meet Arizona's minimum requirements. You must be at least 18 years of age and a permanent resident of Arizona. Also, you can't have any felony convictions on your criminal record.
2Read the Arizona Notary Reference Manual (see Resources). This manual includes all of the laws and procedures for becoming a notary public in the state of Arizona.
3Complete the Notary Public application. This application is available on the State of Arizona's website (see Resources). Once you complete the application, the materials can be mailed to the address listed on the top corner of the application.
4Request a background check packet. You will need to fill out the required information for the Secretary of State to run a background check on you. Also, finger prints will need to be provided, which can be obtained on your local police station.
5Purchase notary bond insurance. This insurance lasts four years and costs $5,000. Purchase the insurance from a certified agent; a list can be obtained by calling (602) 542-4758.
